Better than expected!
The Rialto Theater is simply gorgeous - it would be great if downtown Joliet was revitalized. From the outside marquis and lit up sign, to the indoor Festival of Christmas Trees, the theater was so classy and simply beautiful. The staff was very courteous, pleasant, and helpful. The old fashioned organ was the icing on the cake - was a beautiful venue!
The ballet itself was nothing less than amazing. While a few dancers were hired in for some of the bigger roles, the Von Heidecke dancers looked like professionals themselves. This choreography was so well done and classy, from the older dancers down to the little ones. My kids got a kick out of Drosselmeier as well as the fight scene with the mice. The costumes were spectacular! My 10 year old daughter had a small part as one of the German children - she does not dance at Von Heidecke and while we were hoping she would have a little bit bigger role, it was an honor for her to be included in such a beautiful, professional production.
No need to go to Chicago to see a better show. Whether my daughter is in it again next year or not, we will definitely be back to see it next year! I would HIGHLY recommend this show to anyone!
